About Me

About

SEO is the part of marketing you can actually engineer. That’s why I stayed.

I’m Gaurav Kale — an SEO Lead based in Nagpur, working remote-first across India, Australia, and the US. Six years on live accounts, 20+ brands, three Chrome extensions of my own, and a personal project that hit Mediavine approval with zero paid links.

The story

How an accidental start turned into a six-year operator career.

I started in digital marketing in January 2018 at a Nagpur agency, not because I planned to — because the internet felt more interesting than the alternatives. Four months in, I was running on-page and off-page SEO for local clients. Four months after that, I was at Walnut Folks as an intern, and within three months I was an SEO Analyst owning strategy for client projects.

For the next three years, Walnut Folks was my classroom. I learned keyword research, competitor gap analysis, content themes, technical audits, internal linking, and how to argue for SEO improvements against clients who thought rankings appeared because they wanted them to.

In April 2022, I joined SODP Media — an Australian publisher media company — as a remote SEO Analyst. That’s where the work got more interesting: international clients, SaaS platforms, publisher monetization, programmatic content, multilingual rollouts, and eventually in August 2024, moving into the SEO Lead seat. Today I lead strategy across 20+ high-value accounts spanning SaaS, eCommerce, and publishing.

Alongside client work, I run Rubikverse.com — a personal site that hit 11,000+ monthly organic visits with zero link building and crossed Mediavine’s approval threshold at 30K+ monthly pageviews. I build Chrome extensions when the tools I need don’t exist. I wire Claude into Ahrefs, GSC, and GA4 through MCPs because the reports need to come out faster than a human can copy-paste.

SEO is the part of marketing I can actually engineer — and that’s why I kept going.

  5. Jan 2018 — Aug 2018

First exposure to SEO, local SEO implementations, and the honest realization that I’d rather own this channel than dabble in ten of them.

  6. 2018

Bachelor of Business Administration · Nagpur University

The formal credential. Most of what I actually use day-to-day came from running live accounts.

How I think

Six principles that shape every engagement.

01 · Revenue > rankings.

A dashboard full of green arrows means nothing if the pipeline’s empty. Every strategy gets mapped to pipeline, leads, or transactions.

02 · Tech, content, and links are one system.

Siloed SEO loses. Technical hygiene unlocks content, content earns links, links compound rankings. Broken links in that chain are where most programs stall.

03 · Operator over observer.

Strategy matters, but someone has to actually ship the briefs, tickets, and outreach. I’d rather be in the weekly stand-up than on the quarterly review.

04 · Build tools when the work asks for them.

Three Chrome extensions, a backlink monitor, a Screaming Frog audit automation, an AI content outline planner — each one came from a real client pain, not a side-project urge.

05 · AI compresses work, doesn’t replace thinking.

Claude, Perplexity, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok are in my daily stack — but for the 20-to-80% of the work that’s pattern-matching, not the judgment calls.

06 · Respect the client’s budget.

Not every site needs a 500-page programmatic rollout. The right move is often the boring one done at the right time.

Working style

How it feels to work with me, in plain terms.

Async-first, weekly by default.

Clear written updates, async Loom walkthroughs for strategy decks, a weekly sync to keep priorities tight. No performative meetings.

Embedded, not detached.

I work inside your Slack, Monday, ClickUp, or whatever runs the team. I don’t hand off work into a black hole.

Honest when something isn’t working.

If a strategy needs a ninety-degree turn, you’ll hear it early, not at the end of the quarter. No dashboard gymnastics.

Respectful of your team.

I’ll train your writers, upskill your dev on tech SEO, and push your marketer — not replace them with a consultant-shaped wall.

If you’ve read this far, we might be a fit.

I take a small number of engagements at a time. If SaaS growth, eCom scaling, local rollouts, or AI-search positioning is on your roadmap, let’s talk.
